IMS Seminar (18-19 March 2013) and Advanced Training Course (17 & 20-22 March 2013) in Hobart

The Institute of Mine Seismology has held a seminar on Micro-Seismic Monitoring in Mines each year from 1990; The 23rd seminar will take place in Hobart, Australia. This is an opportunity for users, practitioners and researchers around the world to meet and discuss the latest seismological analysis techniques and technology. In addition, a 4-day advanced training course is held as part of the seminar.

The 2013 IMS seminar will be held at the Grand Chancellor Hotel on the 18th and 19th of March. The first course, A Seismology Primer, will take place on Sunday 17 March (day before the seminar) and the special course on Support Design in Burst Prone Ground by Prof. Peter Kaiser and Prof. Ming Cai on Wednesday 20 March. Courses on seismic hazard, interpretation of seismic data and seismological processing will take place on the Thursday and Friday.

Our negotiated rates are AUD200 (mountain views), AUD235 (harbour view) and AUD340 (Executive Suite) plus taxes per night. You must identify yourself as an IMS Seminar Attendee to receive these reduced rates. Accommodation is limited so please book far in advance.

Training

The Institute of Mine Seismology offers some different forms of training:

  • basic training during installation and commissioning of new IMS systems
  • intermediate-level training courses on customer sites, upon request
  • intermediate-level training courses held in Australia each year
  • an advanced 3-day training course held as part of the annual seminar
