35th Mine Seismology Seminar

RACV Hotel, Hobart, 7 – 12 June 2026

The seminar will be held from Sunday 7 June to Friday 12 June 2026 in Hobart, Tasmania, and offers a comprehensive week-long programme focused on mine seismology and the practical application of seismic monitoring in mining. The programme begins with a primer covering fundamental concepts and monitoring techniques, followed by technical lectures, case studies, and presentations that showcase real-world applications of seismic monitoring in mines. It also features specialist lectures by internationally recognised experts, targeted courses on rockbursting and ground support evaluation, and concludes with hands-on training in IMS systems and software for seismic analysis and mine safety management.

Mine Seismology Workshop Istanbul

Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ), Faculty of Mines 4 – 5 November 2026

This two-day technical industry workshop is designed for mining and geotechnical professionals working with seismic monitoring, rockburst hazard, ground control, and operational risk management. The programme combines a practical primer course, mine case studies, and current developments in seismic monitoring equipment and data analysis.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Practical application of seismic monitoring in underground and high-stress mining environments.
  • Seismic and rockburst hazard assessment for mine planning and daily operations.
  • Interpretation of seismicity, event mechanisms, source parameters, and seismic response to mining.
  • Operational applications, including re-entry protocols after blasting or large seismic events.
  • New developments in seismic monitoring systems, sensors, processing workflows, and data analytics.
