Introducing the xES

The IMS xES (Engineering Seismograph) is a low power, portable, advanced seismic or vibration monitoring station designed to be rapidly deployed for temporary or permanent installations. Versatile sensor inputs enable monitoring of a wide selection of sensors including geophones, accelerometers, broadband seismometers, strong motion sensors and microphones.

Key Features

  • Compact and portable:
    • 96 watt-hour internal lithium-ion battery
    • Integrated solar charge controller – simply connect a 40W solar panel or DC power source (no external controller required)
  • GPS timing:
    • High-accuracy GPS-disciplined clock
  • Flexible communication options:
    • Ethernet
    • On-board WiFi / Bluetooth
    • USB
  • Rugged:
    • IP67 ingress protection
    • Industrial connectors

Integrated data storage, battery, USB port, GPS receiver as well as Wi-Fi and Ethernet communication interfaces enable the xES to operate autonomously in standalone mode or online as part of a realtime network of interconnected stations. With optional internal battery and solar regulator, the xES can be deployed with a minimum of external components. The xES is highly configurable with a choice of auxiliary sensor interface, power input and time synchronisation options. Choose between two main variants depending on your requirements.

xESv › for Vibration and Blast Monitoring

IMS has leveraged its extensive experience in designing seismic monitoring technologies to provide the most advanced vibration monitor on the market. The xESv vibration monitoring seismograph includes a triaxial geophone which can be calibrated to ISEE (2017) or DIN (45669-1 2019) response standards. The auxiliary port enables simultaneous monitoring of linear microphones or other sensors.
The xESv can be used in standalone mode where data is retrieved and reported offline or can operate in online mode where alarms can be triggered in realtime and event reports issued in seconds. Data recorded by the xESv can be seamlessly integrated and synchronised with an existing mine’s seismic monitoring system and database.
  • Calibrated vibration sensor included:
    • Measurement of up to 300 mm/s
    • ISEE (2017) and DIN (45669-1 2019) responses available
    • User selectable high-sensitivity mode
  • Microphone interface for linear microphone (not included)
  • Microphone interface with optional air overpressure microphone for air blast monitoring:
    • Unweighted (linear) response
    • Max SPL 150 dB SPL
    • ISEE (2017) response
  • Most advanced vibration monitoring solution on the market:
    • GPS time synchronisation
    • Continuous and/or triggered full waveforms
    • Low noise, high fidelity recording (seismological quality noise and distortion)
    • Simultaneous waveforms, histograms and other statistics
    • Can be synchronised with mine seismic monitoring system and database; e.g. for mine blast reports
  • Licence free web interface for configuration and control:
    • Reports (USBM RI 8507, AS 2187.2-2006, waveform event, histogram, spectrogram or custom)
    • State of health monitoring
    • Network configuration
    • Firmware upgrades
    • Data retrieval
